Volunteer with Friends of Music + Culture

| Upstream Music Fest +Summit

May 11th - 13th, 2017
Friends of Arts + Culture needs enthusiastic music-loving volunteers!

There are two ways you can participate:

When you sign up and complete 8 volunteer hours during the Upstream Music Fest + Summit, you'll become eligible for a $50 three-day GA Fest + Summit pass and a custom designed t-shirt. You'll pay $50 when you register as a volunteer.

When you sign up and complete 2 to 4 volunteer hours on the Street Team or at the Info Booth during Upstream Music Fest + Summit, you'll be eligible for a custom designed t-shirt. You will not receive a GA Fest + Summit pass, but you'll still have access to the programming that is open to the public.

If your plans change, you can drop your shifts and resign as a volunteer before April 20th and we will fully refund your $50. Your $50 general admission pass will be available for pick up the week of Monday, May 8th on the Upstream Music Fest Campus near CenturyLink Box Office.

By accepting the terms of this Volunteer Agreement (this "Fest"), I can register as a potential volunteer of Friends of Arts + Culture in support of the Upstream Music Fest + Summit (the "Fest"), and agree that: This agreement is between me and Friends of Arts + Culture, ("FofA+C"), a 501(c)(4) organization. I understand this Agreement is a legally binding agreement between me and FofA+C, and by submitting this registration for a potential volunteer position, I agree to be bound by all the obligations and requirements should I be accepted a FofA+C volunteer.
1. Volunteer Status. I understand that by accepting this Agreement the discounted fee for the three-day GA Fest admission, and registering on Volunteerlocal.com or signing up to volunteer in any other manner, I am not guaranteed a position as a volunteer for FofA+C in support of the Fest. If selected as a volunteer, I understand that I will not be paid for my volunteer services, nor be considered an employee of FofA+C. Any volunteer perks or benefits, including discounted festival passes, are just that - perks.
2. Code of Conduct. While a volunteer for FofA+C, I will conduct myself in accordance with the positive energy and good-will of FofA+C. I will respect all Fest attendees, venue owners and staff, other volunteers, and the City of Seattle. I will wear my volunteer t-shirt for all shifts that occur during the festival and willingly perform the duties and responsibilities assigned to me by the FofA+C volunteer coordinator (the "Coordinator"). In the Fest of any altercation, unruly behavior, fights or similar conduct by any Fest attendee, I will not become involved in the situation and will immediately seek the assistance of law enforcement or other qualified individuals to attend to the problem.
3. Liability. I understand the risk involved with volunteering, including possible bodily injury or property loss and/or damage. I understand FofA+C does not provide any accidental or medical insurance related to my participation. I hereby release, and agree to indemnify, and hold harmless FofA+C its officers, directors, agents, staff and employees from any and all liability, damages, and/or claims of any nature whatsoever arising out of, or in any way related to, my volunteer work for FofA+C.
4. Theft/Loss/Damage of Property. I shall be personally responsible and liable for any theft or loss of money or property, or damage to property entrusted to me by FofA+C during my shift, and understand and agree that in the Fest that property or money entrusted to me during my shift is lost, stolen or damaged, I shall be liable for the value of such loss or damage.
5. Alcohol/Illegal Drugs. I agree to abstain from using any and all alcohol and/or illegal drugs prior to or during my scheduled shifts for FofA+C and to comply with all applicable laws regarding the use, possession and/or transport of any illegal drug or controlled substance. I understand that Failure to abide by this rule will result in immediate dismissal and the loss of all privileges as a volunteer. I will not wear my volunteer t-shirt during the Fest at any time I am not actively engaged as a volunteer for FofA+C.
6. Dismissal. I understand that my volunteer service is a privilege and not a right and that it is completely discretionary with the management of FofA+C. If I fail to conduct myself in accordance with this Agreement, either during the Fest or in relation to my status as a volunteer, I may be dismissed from volunteer service, which will result in a loss of all volunteer privileges, at the sole discretion of FofA+C staff and the Coordinator.
7. No-show. I understand that if I am a no show for my scheduled shift, I will suffer a loss of all privileges. "No-show" is defined as: failing to arrive within 10 minutes of scheduled start time, missing a shift as a result of being refused entry at age 21+ venues due to being under 21, or by leaving my assigned task/location during a scheduled shift without the knowledge and approval of the Volunteer Coordinator.
8. I understand and agree that in addition to the $50 3-day Fest admission, I am required to pay a volunteer deposit of $85 upon signing up for FofA+C shifts in support of the Fest. The deposit will be refunded upon recorded completion of my shift(s) the week after the end of the Fest. I understand that, at the discretion of the FofA+C staff, in the Fest of a violation of this agreement or a no-show as described above, I could lose the privilege of all FofA+C volunteer perks, which will cause my $85 volunteer deposit to be kept and not refunded, as full payment for the 3-day GA admission.
9. Agency. I understand that I am not an agent or employee of FofA+C, nor am I authorized to transact business, enter into agreements, or otherwise make commitments or waive any requirements for attendance or participation at the festival, on behalf of the festival unless, expressly authorized in writing by FofA+C.
10. I represent to FofA+C that I am at least 21 years of age.
